The number of accessories for the iPod is now huge. There is a huge range of different models of iPods which are constantly being updated. This leaves a lot of room for accessory designers to find something that every iPod owner would want. If you have not yet bought an iPod, make sure that when you do, you don’t opt for getting a cheap rip-off version from India or China as not only will the build quality be worse, you won’t have any kind of warrantee with it. With the huge range of iPod models available, make sure that you check that the accessory you are interested in is compatible with your particular model. Here’s a list of the iPod models which are currently available for purchase.

• iPhone 3G
• iPod Touch
• iPod Classic
• iPod Nano
• iPod Shuffle

The best selling accessory are the cases. They come in a huge number of designs which allow iPod users to personalise their iPod to a certain degree. The cases are not just to look good. They have the practical use of protecting the screen and body of the iPod from scratches and any other shock or water related damage.

Another popular accessory are the iPod speakers. They are normally portable which allows you to share your favourite songs with friends and family while on the move. You don’t really want to carry your hifi around with you, so these iPod speakers are perfect for the job. But again, remember to make sure that the accessory you’re buying is compatible with your iPod.

There are moreiPod accessories than those I’ve mentioned. There are armbands, iPod chargers, iPod docking stations, FM transmitters, batteries and so much more. Just take a look at your nearest Apple shop for some kind of idea as to what you can get.

Apple Computers, inc are the inventors of the iPod. The CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs had decided that MP3 players on the market were too chunky and didn’t hold enough songs. This is why he came up with the iPod. There are several different models of iPods:
  • iPod Touch - Multitouch screen instead of buttons. Comes in 8, 16 or 32 GB models.
  • iPod Shuffle - Very small. No screen. Comes in 1 or 2 GB models.
  • iPod Classic - Now in its sixth generation the iPod classic comes with 120 GB.
  • iPod Nano - Tall all-aluminium case. 9 colours to choose from. comes in 4, 8 or 16 GB models.
The iPod soon became the fastest selling mp3 player. However, it is no no longer just an MP3 player, but instead a portable entertainment system.
